nVidea graphics crash soon after turorial start

My specs are in my profile as requested.

When starting the tutorial, I get a graphics crash soon after spawning in the ship.

Usually the crash will happen where I spawn, simply by using the 'mouse look' to rotate the view behind me .
The furthest I've got, is to sit in the pilots seat but the crash is commonly before that.

I normally run my desktop at 1920x1080 but I've tried going down to 640x480 (BIG!) and working my way up from there, altering the video size within the game to match at each change of desktop resolution.
I've been restarting after each crash although occasionally the crash will kill the OS. Very low level. No blue screen is ever produced.

I've tried windowed and full screen at each resolution.

    TrackIR is set off.

I'm including a link to some log files I've seen you ask for previously, a dxdiag report, a screenshot of the error and a few other files you may find useful.

    Regards

I'm sure you will have, but latest NVidia drivers?
Any other lockup playing other OpenGL games? (I say mentioned this because I have had a flakey vid card that will occasionally hard lock the machine same as you, no blue screen or dump).
Any idea what Temp your vid card is running at?

Alternatively, I wonder if it is the same as the sort order bug BlueDrake was getting on his livestream, where the Seat Safe button on the wall in the cockpit was somehow causing a massive render delay..

Other possibility's are the planet shaders

If you jump straight to an exterior view (F2) and face away from the moon, does the game stay running?

    Hi Nemises,

I updated the driver (1 version behind) no change.
Temps are fine. Fan speed is quite low. It gets driven fairly hard sometimes by ED and P3D without any crashes.
Other OpenGL games? I don't know. The only games I run on this PC are ED, FSX and P3D. I don't think they use OpenGL do they?
If someone can suggest another freebee OpenGL game I can quickly test with, I'll try it.

I cannot produce a crash in external camera view. Been getting quite sick spinning the view around for 10 minutes! No issue.

I went back inside and it immediately crashed after I walking back a few steps and looked at the midships light switch as instructed by the tutorial.
This is almost guaranteed to crash the gpu.

hmm..Seems similar then to the one in Bluedrakes (I think?) Live stream a few weeks back, around the rendering of the cockpit light / safe buttons...his didn't result in a crash though, but, different cards different problems etc.

I think Michael did some troubleshooting at the time with Bluedrake so might have an idea if he sees this thread.

Have you tried disabling card options such as FSAA, anisotropic filtering etc?... it could be that one of these operations doesn't like the shader on the button?

Do you have more than one monitor?

We had ONE tester have this same problem. He also was using an nVidia. In his case, disabling the second monitor "fixed" the issue. I know you shouldn't HAVE to disable it, of course, but that made it work. Seems that most of the crashes thus far have been related to nVidia and multiple monitors, but so far a correlation hasn't been found beyond that...

I do have a second monitor as noted in my specs.
I have already removed it. No change.

I'll play with the card options in a couple of mins and report back.

    Cheers

please post the contents of your "GameState.ROG" file (located in SaveGames/TestGame). Just open in notepad, copy paste. If you find ANY setting that helps, please let me know. Something is triggering this on nVidia cards, and two monitors seems to be a common element.

Also, did you try restarting your computer after disabling the second monitor?

I have created a default nVidea Inspector profile for Rogue System with all settings set to default.
In this condition FSAA is off and anisotropic settings can be seen from the 3 screenshots I've now added to the "1 OpenGL Crash" folder mentioned in my first post.
The files are called NVIDIA Inspector Default settings A/B/C
If you have a profile you could export, or settings you can ask me to set, I'll try them.

There are some OpenGL settings in the profile I've just tried (blindly!) altering without effect.

FYI. I can ignore the tutorial instruction to press the midships light and as long as I don't look behind me, I can enter the cockpit, sit and safe the seat, activate
the external view screens without a crash. I cannot get further without the tutorial <g>

As requested: (and yes I rebooted after removing the second monitor)

That's... odd. The bulk of the geometry is in the cockpit, not aft. If there were I problem I'd expect looking fore would trigger it, not aft :S

Also, just so you know, I started a new thread here where we can gather all of this together: http://isiforums.net/f/showthread.ph...-Monitor-crash
